Prekese, Aidan fruit also known as Tetrapleura Tetraplera is a species of the pea family and is native to West Tropical Africa. The fruits of the plant have a strong aromatic smell with insect repellant properties.

The plant also contains antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals.

This fruit can be steeped in hot water and drank as tea or put in soups and stews for its nutritional value and flavor.

Prekese is a hard brittle fruit and some fruits may have cracks in the shell. This is nothing to worry about and does not affect the nutritional qualities or flavor of the fruit.

One of its most common uses is to spice Banga soup which is a type of palm fruit soup. It’s also used in pepper soup and in Ghana, soft drinks have been flavored with this versatile fruit.
